Do you have a boring, blank wall in your kitchen? Consider transforming it into a farmhouse brick wall with this DIY brick veneer project!
- For this project, we use a thin brick veneer instead of regular bricks. This allows us to install it without a different foundation and we get the same look as regular brick. You should, however, use a wood ledger, a piece of wood that is screwed into the wall and used as a straightedge to ensure your wall is even.
- As for laying the brick, we will take you through how to lay it subway style, with the bricks making that Tetris-style fitting. To start this, cut some bricks in half using a tile saw, then start at the edge of the way going up, whole and half alternating.
- Use 3/8" wood strips to serve as spacing between bricks, but you can also dry stack bricks right next to each other if you prefer.
- To finish it, add mortar to joints and brush it up. If you want, you can add a finish, or you can leave it the way it is.
