If a window or door frame develops some rotting in the wood, you have roughly three options. You could replace the whole wood piece (which may mean replacing the whole frame), you could carve and attach a wood patch to replace the bit of rotted wood, or your could use epoxy to fill in the space after scraping out all the rotted wood.
The last of these options is perhaps the most desirable, unless the extent of the damage really warrants replacing whole door frame or window frame.
