If you're looking to make your very own wood countertops or just want to see how it's done, check out the attached video. What's novel about his project is its use of a staggered random joint pattern to make an attractive surface in your kitchen. It uses maple wood for a hard surface and is 4 by 7 feet in size.

There's one device in this project that is good to remember for other woodworking projects: the pocket jig. Instead of having to glue and clamp your wood together, you can screw them together using this device. It also you to screw in at an angle that is stable and isn't visible from the top of the countertop, making it a very useful tool!
